This eagle has bright and piercing eyes carved with incised lines to conform the later genre of the Hongshan culture artifacts. The beat is seen sharp and powerful. With the help of nature cause, a wonderful diamond shape with black color has formed in forehead and nose area. The chest of the swallow looks strong and solid with the wings wide opened seeming ready to fly high. The claws grip firmly and the tail opens slightly. The surface of the backside of the swallow is smooth except that there are two double slant incised lines between the wings and the body. A double side bugle shape holes pertinent to Hongshan culture is seen on the neck.
The item is made of clear white jade. The style of carving and hole drilling method conforms the characteristics of Hongshan culture artifacts. Comparing with similar items from available documents, it is rare to have item with perfect workmanship and size like this. As far as authenticity is concerned, differential weathering, diffusive markings, cleaving veins and exposed planes are seen to prove its genuineness. It was a collection of Mr. Min, a high ranking officer of the army division of white color flag of Manchuria in the Qing Dynasty.
