The handle of the knife has the shape of dragon head which may serve as the origin of the dragon motif for later period. There is a bugle shape hole at the mouth part of the dragon. The conjunction between the handle and the blade is decorated by motifs of phoenix on both ends. Again, the phoenix motif is believed to be the origin of phoenix for later times. On back part of the blade, there are three new moon shape curves. The cutting-edge is blunt. The surface of the blade is concave with an edge slanting outside. The material is yellow color jade from Hotan. There secondary additives covered on the surface of the knife. Besides, differential weathering and cavities are shown to prove the phenomenon of ages. The artifact may be the most beautiful one among large knives for the Hongshan period. It was a collection of Mr. Min, a high ranking officer of the army division of white color flag of Manchuria in the Qing Dynasty.
